I. JOB FUNCTION

This position supports an organization with enterprise-wide responsibilities for the development and support of applications. The position will be responsible for short-term applications changes and development. The development will be reports, adhoc queries, etc. Changes will be bug fixes or enhancements that are authorized by the MIS Steering Committee.



II. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. This position is responsible for the various activities associated with the development and/or support of applications according to specifications for department or company-wide use. It may also include working directly with clients to define user requirements and to define and meet their decision support and data access requirements. The Developer assists in either the operations of applications or the development of detailed application designs and system flows. This position may also include coordinating software development project activities through all phases of the SDLC.

2. Responsible for coordinating with 3rd party resources on the integration of custom applications surrounding user processes.

3. Responsible for the documentation and training of client resources on the custom application developed.

4. Responsible for meeting assigned deliverables.

5. Responsible for finding the right “fit for purpose” solution for the task.

6. Responsible for assisting in driving overall costs lower for database performance, data conversion, administration services and client processes.

7. Activities for this position may include application processing, data modeling, flowcharting, coding, testing, test plan preparation, testing validations, program debugging, development of job flow/transaction processing, implementation and coordination of program releases, investigation and correction of error conditions or application discrepancies and verification that application processing complies with company standards.

8. Coding, Unit Testing and System Testing of all applications development.

9. Maintenance of existing applications and newly developed applications.

10. Documentation of applications developed.

11. Training of client users on applications developed.

12. This position can assist in making recommendations on product selection, standardization, and solutions designs by seeking requirements from the organization.





III. MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (includes education)

• Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years of management information systems experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company. Additional relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education.

• Technical and user knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, Advanced Excel, Access, PHP, Oracle Forms, TOAD and Oracle DB.

• Advanced consideration given for experience with COGNOS tools, ERWIN, ETL tools, automated Oracle testing tools, Oracle de-bugging tools.

• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communications skills.

• Results oriented.

• Able to work on multiple “open” projects at one time as they are in various stages of development, test, approval.

• Able to work in a changing, growing company and demonstrate flexibility.
