Right now we are working to save some of Georgia’s most important rivers. Our rivers provide millions of Georgians with clean drinking water and are also great places for recreation. However, too many of them are polluted and threatened by over development. So Environment Georgia is working this year to establish permanent protections for them.
In 2006, Environment Georgia helped to protect pristine forests in the Chattahoochee watershed, and successfully worked to enact the Georgia Conservation Tax Credit.

Big polluters have already
spent millions to convince our leaders to ignore the environment. We don't
have that kind of money to buy politicians in Georgia, so instead,
we are hiring staff to take the message to the people, in communities
across the state, and build the grassroots people power it takes to make
our politicians listen to us.
