Georgia Close-Up Foundation, a non-profit non-partisan civic education organization, seeks an intern for a position as Assistant to the Program Administrator. COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY STUDENTS ONLY!





Georgia Close Up’s mission is to encourage informed active citizen participation in the democratic process and for young people, teachers, and citizens of all ages to gain a practical understanding of how public policy affects their lives and how they can affect public policy. Georgia Close Up is committed to developing new and better ways for young people to become effective participants by providing a balanced perspective on issues.





Position Info:


The internship will last from August 2007 to March 2008 and a stipend is available. A great second job in addition to work-study and an excellent reference on a resume. Marketing and web design experience highly preferred.





Responsibilities include: Georgia Close-Up website maintenance and data entry. Volunteer networking and recruitment for our conferences in the Spring. Arranging special guest speaker for conferences. General marketing and promotion of the Georgia Close Up conference programs in addition to: compiling promotional, education and program materials into packets; typing and mailing letters and other documents; preparing pre and post conference materials (name tags, signs, registration materials, program manuals, thank you letters and evaluations); website data entry; attending all conferences and meetings as scheduled and providing event support to Chairman and Program Administrator as needed (i.e. food prep, attendee coordination and setup).





Qualifications:


Business, Marketing, Information Technology, Computer Science and similar majors will be preferred but all will be considered as long as there is a demonstrated ability to perform required tasks.





A strong knowledge of the conference issues MUST be demonstrated in the cover letter and the interview. Please see the organization website (www.georgiacloseup.org) to view the issues and complete independent research to familiarize yourself with the issues.





In your cover letter, please address the following: discuss one or more of the conference topics and your interest in the area; please describe your greatest strength and weakness; finally, describe any other skills you have (languages, computer programming skills, or familiarity with a certain subject area). Feel free to add any other information that may help your application.
