Summary
The Bankruptcy Specialist assists with the processing of special accounts where the customer has filed for bankruptcy protection. Upon receipt of the notice, they will document the system and forward them to an outside organization. The duties performed in this position provide protection to the company’s interest while the account is in a bankruptcy status.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensures income mail from the Bankruptcy department is process in a timely and efficient manner.
• Opens and Reviews bankruptcy filings and documents the system with appropriate information.
• Reviews Bankruptcy Plans and valuation of Collateral.
• Updates the system relative to actions taken.
• Assigns accounts to an Outplacement firm
• Follows-up with outplacement firm to ensure receipt of documentation.
• Consistently reviews accounts to ensure filing dates are met.
• Involved in decision making process related to Objections and Motions for Lifts of Stay.
• Completes special projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
• Two years college preferred, and two years experience handling bankruptcy
• Must have knowledge of Collection policies and procedures
• Must have knowledge of Bankruptcy policies and procedures
• General knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and web applications
• Accurate typing and data entry skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
• Proficiency with a computer keyboard
• Excelled organizational, verbal and writing skills
• Previous experience in collections, finance related industry, bankruptcy and/or automobile collections preferred.
